Afghan Whigs — Black Love — 1996

May be subject to copyright

Inspired by noir, film and literature, Black Love, The Afghan Whigs fifth album, found front man Greg Dulli exploring the darker recesses of his mind.

Critics highlighted that the album captured the energy of a Whigs live show (can confirm) and that the album just sounded different from their alternative brethren back then (can confirm).

Unfortunately, Black Love didn’t get the same kind of love as its predecessor, Gentlemen.

But as often is the case with classic albums, as years have gone by, Black Love is now regarded by many to be one of the Afghan Whigs best.

Can confirm.
