As we were talking on Sunday about influences, etc. I was thinking of the show Freaks and Geeks. There is a character who plays the drums and worships Neal Peart until an older guy introduces him to Gene Krupa and it blows his mind. It’s a very sweet, albeit brief, storyline. Anywhosie, I know the band gets their propers, but I sometimes wonder if people understand that the sound they created, didn’t EXIST before them. Parts of it did, for sure, but they crystallized such a unique and American sound.
