At least for me, I’ve learned over the past few years to actually ask “do you just want me to listen or are you looking for advice?” It’s helped me navigate a few relationships. I think men are wired to fix things so it’s our natural instinct to say things like that and often times people just want to vent. Nothings foolproof, relationships (parent/child or partner/partner) are challenging….says the single guy. :)
