Chris Dowd of Fishbone

Wrapping up the season with a bang!
1

The odds are that if you’re reading this, then you probably know that Fishbone is a pioneering band from Los Angeles fusing ska, punk, funk, soul, metal, and reggae into a wildly eclectic and politically charged sound.

Fronted by the charismatic Angelo Moore, Fishbone became known for their electrifying live performances, kinetic stage presence, and refusal to conform to any musical or cultural expectations. Their early EPs and albums, including In Your Face, Truth and Soul, and The Reality of My Surroundings, earned critical acclaim for their boundary-pushing style and social commentary.

Songs like “Party at Ground Zero” and “Everyday Sunshine” showcased both their musicianship and their message.

Despite internal struggles and shifting lineups, Fishbone has remained an active and influential entity. More than four decades in, Fishbone continues to embody a defiant, genre-blending spirit that, for better or worse, resists easy categorization.

Founding member Christopher Dowd stopped by to chat about the band’s new album, Stockholm Syndrome.
