No crying.
She just stood & nodded in acceptance.
He kissed her. One last time — knowing what he was giving up.
In one word — her.
By choice — they determined they couldn’t go any further.
That was her choice — by design.
She shared very little & cared even less.
He couldn’t understand.
He wasn’t interested in living on a plateau — he wanted the expanse.
With her.
She didn’t …at least with him.
Not now.
Not ever.
He watched her leave — his heart was breaking.
