I’m not good at expressing joy.
I feel it.
I know it.
But showing it?
Like everything with her, I wanted to try.
So, I tried:
I bought her a necklace.
She smiled and thanked me.
Next I bought her a piece of art.
She smiled and thanked me.
Then I booked a romantic vacation.
She smiled and thanked me.
I became frustrated with her seeming indifference, so I said:
“I’m trying to show you all the joy you’ve brought to my life.”
She smiled, took my head in her hands, kissed me gently and said:
“Baby, you just did.”
