A story in 100 words.

Ray Charles became blind.
Loss.

Steve Wonder was born blind.
Absence.

Sophie lay in bed, holding her phone, “Ain’t That Love” played. She thought:

  • Is it better to have loved and lost?

  • Is it better to have never loved at all?

Oliver set his phone down on the table, “Isn’t She Lovely” played. He thought:

  • Is it better to know loss?

  • Is it better to never know something existed?

Sophie typed — “Hi.”
Oliver saw his phone light up; he turned it over — for now.

Sophie & Oliver’s tragedy was neither loss nor absence — they had stopped looking for each other.
