New Age Healers keep the sound loud and alive.
New Age Healers is a Seattle-based band that has been making waves in the alternative rock scene with their distinctive blend of shoegaze, psych-rock, and post-punk elements.
Founded by multi-instrumentalist Owen Murphy, the group now features guitarist Jeramy Koepping, drummer Adam LeVasseur, bassist Allen Murray, and keyboardist Farkhad Saidmuratov. Over the almost ten years of the band, the group has crafted a sound characterized by lush guitar textures, ethereal vocals, and immersive sonic landscapes.
Their career showcases a commitment to evolving their musical craftsmanship while maintaining a cohesive auditory aesthetic. The band's debut album, Ghosts, essentially just Murphy playing everything, introduced listeners to their atmospheric approach, combining dreamy melodies with a robust rhythmic foundation. This was followed by Where The Tragic Happens, which delved deeper into melancholic themes, enveloped in swirling guitars and introspective lyrics.
In 2019, New Age Healers released Debris, an album that refined their sound with tighter compositions and a polished production. Tracks like "A Message From The Past" and "Hang On" exemplify their ability to balance intensity with melodic sensibility.
The band's live performance of these songs on KEXP highlighted their dynamic stage presence and musical prowess.
Demolition Stories continued this upward trajectory, offering a collection of songs exploring themes of personal and collective upheaval. The album's layered instrumentation and emotive vocals resonate with listeners and provide a cathartic experience.
With their most recent release, The Spin Out, the band has come into its own, and the record stands as a testament to its artistic growth. With tracks such as "Dying Moon,” "Spark Up," and the title track, the record blends edgy guitar riffs with introspective lyrics, showcasing New Age Healers' dynamic flair.
While rooted in their signature shoegaze style, The Spin Out reveals a richer emotional spectrum, affirming the band's commitment to pushing creative boundaries.
