When It Began
Bill Goffrier of The Embarrassment let's it all hang out
Keith R. Higgons hosts an abbreviated, three-minute version of the Abandoned Album podcast. Well, micro-podcast. Delivered once weekly... there may be some other things thrown in here and there.
Hailing from Wichita, Kansas, The Embarrassment was a four-piece band that infused punk energy with pop sensibility and a wry sense of humor.
The band was on the same circuit as R.E.M., The Replacements, and Husker Du, and helped shape what would become college rock in the early to mid-80s. Unlike their contemporaries, The Embarrassment failed to capture the attention of the major label power brokers and eventually parted ways.
Here’s how it began and how they were named; you can listen to the podcast here.
