Still one of my most favourite albums of the 90s. I go back to it on a regular basis, and yes, 'filler-free'.

The morning of my 60th birthday, my youngest put this song on as loud as it could go. Then he grabbed me and we danced and sang throughout the house. He was determined that the pandemic was not going to ruin my day. 🥰

That sounds like a great way to start a birthday!

Thanks, Keith! I knew nothing about this band when, at some point, somewhere, I heard "You've Got the Music in You" a decade ago for my first time. Completely immersed into nightly karaoke at the time, few believed it when I would, quite regularly, sing this song!

These wacky kids today....sometimes they'll come up with a real banger....in any century!

Me too! The lockdown years ruined my voice....couldn't do karaoke any more, as the clubs were closed (or nixed their karaoke nights), and the $75/hr entertaining at nursing homes/assisted living facilities, of course, was off-limits!

For that, I had a little home karaoke machine and had a small library of CD-G discs, which showed lyrics on a little screen! I sang crooner songs....Sinatra, Dino, Mathis, etc. Loved it, good dough, and got to entertain, once a month, for Mom at her facility! I'll DM you a vid of me singing a Frankie song at a club a decade ago!

This has prompted me to listen to the album - at last! You Get What You Give is up with the greatest pop songs of all time.

I totally agree. "Someday We'll Know" is also a real gem on that album.

Thanks Keith, just listened to ‘Someday We’ll Know’. It’s got to be one of the best songs for anyone with a broken heart or has had their’s broken. Uniformly superfine album! For the longest time (as Americans would say) I thought ‘You Get What You Give’ was by World Party. I’ve never seen it mentioned anywhere but surely Karl Wallinger influenced Gregg Alexander in some way, even if only vocally. I saw World Party in 2007 supporting Steely Dan in Melbourne. The Dan are my favourite band of all time but World Party’s performance that night was far more memorable.

"Someday..." just guts me every time. I totally hear the World Party influence and I had read that in a review somewhere too. It's hard to imagine walking out of a Steely Dan show and finding the opener more memorable. That says a lot.

Very good album. ‘You Get What You Give’ is a staple trivia question when we do music trivia’s. It usually stumps about 80-90% of the participants, despite everyone knowing the song!

Such a great song. Funny how it stumps people. How is the question framed?

We play 10 seconds of the song. Everyone knows the song but very people know the title or the artist.

Ugh, their two singles were/are SO good. I liked them in secret at the time since I was too busy presenting as a tough punk chick that hated pop. But man, now I'll shout it from the rooftops.

What a great song! Too bad they didn't last longer as a group.

Where punk and rap meets pop. Pure joy in this song. Thanks for putting it out there again.
